About the event
Alieni in Laguna is described as an eco-narrative ballad about our relationship with biodiversity. It is an epic, ironic musical show about the complicated, unbalanced and at times schizophrenic, yet unavoidable bond between humans and the other animal and plant species of the planet. It invites the audience to reflect on the very idea of "alien" and on the need to redefine our relationship with Nature.
The story starts with the unexpected return of wildlife to cities during lockdown and a small apartment-block garden seen as a dirty, contemporary Eden. From there it moves into the Era of Plasmability and Ecological Amnesia, where wild boar, bears, wolves, blue crabs and fireflies mingle in a forest of stories, to reflect on our origins and the ecological impact of how we live.
The theatrical narration blends reality and fantasy, history and biography, science and Venetian folklore.
Written and performed by Andrea Pennacchi, with live music by Giorgio Gobbo (guitar and voice).
