About the event
From 11 October 2026 to 4 April 2027, Villa Museo Paolina Bonaparte in Viareggio hosts the exhibition "L’eletto sguardo", promoted by the Municipality of Viareggio and curated by Alessandra Belluomini Pucci.
The show moves through some of the most significant strands of 20th-century Italian art: from the Scuola Romana to Magic Realism, from Metaphysical art to Futurism, from Neorealism to post-war research, and on to Pittura Colta. It presents 63 works by 36 artists from the Giovanni Pieraccini Collection, including de Chirico, Balla, Guttuso, Capogrossi, Dorazio, Pomodoro and Angeli.
The title refers to two ways of looking: that of the collector Giovanni Pieraccini, who recognised and followed some of the most important artistic experiences of his time, and that of the artists, who were called to move beyond the surface of reality and explore its deeper dimension.
