About the event

Terzo Tempo is loosely based on the novel of the same name by Lidia Ravera (Bompiani). Domenico and Costanza, husband and wife, "separated but close", approach old age in opposite spirits. She is impulsive and visionary and wants to make it the most precious time of life; he is calmer and more ironic, and tries to keep up with her. Their son is incredulous, and a young spectator takes part.

The play is a tender, unsettling comedy about the time that remains and what to do with it, and about the energy, affection, desires and stubbornness that can still be put back into circulation. It looks at old age not as a tidy ending but as a space that is still open, unstable and surprising.

Lucia Vasini and Paolo Hendel play the couple, directed by Emanuela Giordano. The cast also includes Viola Lucio and Marco Mavaracchio. Dramaturgy is by Lidia Ravera and Emanuela Giordano. Produced by Teatro Franco Parenti, in co-production with Agidi.

Getting to Viareggio

By car, leave the A12 at the Viareggio-Camaiore exit; the Viareggio–Lucca link road joins the A11 Florence motorway. Viareggio station is on the Genoa–Pisa line and is the terminus of the line to Lucca and Florence, with regional trains towards Pisa, La Spezia, Lucca and Florence. From Pisa airport, the PisaMover shuttle runs to Pisa Centrale in about 5 minutes, where you change to a train for Viareggio.

Parking: On-street parking in Viareggio is mostly paid blue-line parking, run for the Comune by MoVer (Mobilità Versilia). Rates vary by zone; pay at the meters or with the MoVer app. The signs on site always apply.
