About the event
The Mercato del Forte is considered the most beautiful market in Italy and has been a fixed date for customers from central and northern Italy for many decades. It began more than fifty years ago and was conceived almost the opposite of a traditional market: no bargain-price goods, but an informal, fun way to buy prêt-à-porter, with a strong focus on quality.
Clothing comes first: women's, men's and children's fashion, leather goods, furs, cashmere, shoes from major brands and beachwear. The stalls also sell linen and homewares, ceramics, goldsmith pieces and typical local food products.
The market takes place in Piazza Marconi, in the centre of Forte dei Marmi: a large circular asphalt track surrounded by pines, with the stalls arranged around it.

Forte dei Marmi Sunday market
In the warm season the famous Piazza Marconi market doubles up: the stalls return every Sunday morning with the same mix as on Wednesdays, clothing and fashion first, then leather goods, cashmere, shoes, beachwear, linens, ceramics, jewellery and local food.

About Forte dei Marmi
Forte dei Marmi takes its name from the small fort in Piazza Garibaldi, completed in 1788 under Grand Duke Peter Leopold to guard the beach where marble from the Apuan Alps was stored and shipped. The town belonged to Pietrasanta until 26 April 1914, when it became a comune of its own.
