Torre del Lago Puccini is a frazione of Viareggio, set between Lake Massaciuccoli and the sea a few kilometres south of the town. Its name comes from an old watchtower on the lake; "Puccini" was added in 1938.

Giacomo Puccini arrived in 1891 and lived here for about thirty years, writing Tosca, Madama Butterfly and other operas in the house he made from the tower on the shore. The Villa Museo Puccini keeps the rooms much as he left them, and he is buried in its chapel with his family.

Next to the villa, the Gran Teatro all'aperto Giacomo Puccini hosts the Festival Puccini each July and August, a summer opera season held by the lake since 1930. The lake and its marshes are part of the Migliarino, San Rossore and Massaciuccoli natural park and a LIPU bird reserve.

On the coast, the Marina di Torre del Lago has a wide sandy beach with free and equipped stretches, and the Lecciona, a free beach among dunes and pine wood, runs north towards Viareggio. Torre del Lago suits opera lovers, birdwatchers and beachgoers.
