Forte dei Marmi weekly market: every Wednesday, 8am–1:30pm

Every Wednesday · 08:00–13:30 · Piazza Marconi, the pine-lined ring in the town centre

What you find

The best-known market on the coast, running for more than fifty years and held summer and winter on the circular track and in the pine grove of Piazza Marconi. Dozens of stalls sell clothing above all: women's, men's and children's fashion, leather goods, furs, cashmere, designer shoes and beachwear. There are also linens and homeware, ceramics, jewellery and local food specialities. It is the market's own idea of quality rather than bargain-bin prices that draws visitors from all over Italy.

Tips

The Wednesday market is the year-round one. A second market in the same square runs on Sundays from Easter to the end of October, and the food market sits separately in Piazza Donatori di Organi on Wednesdays. Don't confuse it with “Gli Ambulanti di Forte dei Marmi”: that is a consortium, founded in 2002 by stallholders of this market, that takes a touring market to squares all over Italy. Its dates in other towns have nothing to do with the market here in Piazza Marconi.
